On Friday, October 21, 2011, the ITM club held it’s 3rd annual Fall Bowling fundraiser at Woodland Lanes in Livonia.
The event included 3 games of Glow in the dark Bowling, food, prizes, and a lot of fun. In all, 55 people attended the event, including several club members and our faculty advisor. This was by far our best turnout yet for a Bowling fundraiser! Overall, between the 50/50 raffle and the money from admission, we raised an OUTSTANDING total of $920 for the Club!! That’s more than all of our past Bowling fundraisers combined!!
The money will be put towards our trip to the AIS student conference in Provo, Utah in April.
Thank you to everyone who attended this event.
We look forward to our future Bowling events, including our 3rd annual Winter Bowling fundraiser, which is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2012!
The ITM Club gained new publicity recently, being featured as the student Spotlight for the month of September 2011 in the Midwest Association for Information Systems Newsletter. The article highlighted some of the scholastic and professional activities among the club, portraying the club as “Being the Club Where Students Want To Be”.
Below is a copy of the feature:

Several members of the club helped out as student volunteers at the August 4-7 conference at the GM RenCen in Downtown Detroit, taking on a variety of tasks from working the registration desk to working with paper and poster sessions. The conference also gave club members the chance to attend the conference, sit in on paper sessions, attend social events, and network with other students and scholars from around the world! Our faculty advisor, Lise Urbaczewski was named the new Vice President of Student Chapters, and hosted a student chapter meet and greet at the conference on Thursday. The conference especially gave us a chance to network with schools and chapters in and around the Metro Detroit area, such as Oakland University, Wayne State University, and the University of Windsor. We are so grateful for this exciting experience the AIS has offered us and so very lucky to have the conference in our neighborhood this year! This is the 2nd AIS conference that club members have had the opportunity to attend this year, as several club members also attended AIS’s 2010 International Conference on Information Systems in St. Louis, MO in December.

The week kicked off with a Hallway Fair, where all of the College of Business student organizations ran a table. Marathon Oil was there to recruit IT students.
The week also consisted of a Speed Networking event, in which professionals from all fields of business visited the University to speak with students.
“Recover, Rebuild, Reform” was the theme of a panel discussion to conclude the week-long event. The discussion focused on how young adults can contribute to the growth and re-invention of Michigan’s economic status. Donate to the USO and make a positive difference in the lives of our troops!
All money raised will help fund Operation Phone Home program for our men and women in uniform. Operation Phone Home was established in 2003 and has made a world of difference to those service men and women who have been deployed to other countries. The program takes donations to provide our service men and women with calling cards so they can call home. Since the USO has been working on the program for the past 7 years, they have even been able to develop a private telephone network (PTN) which is also funded based on donations.
