This pages details some of the events we hold throughout the year. Please view our event schedule for a listing of scheduled events. If you see an event you want to be a part of contact us — we want to hear from you!
General meetings are open to all students and are held every Wednesday from 5-6pm in the Fairlane Center.
An important part of our identity is rooted in support of our community. Several times each year we host Coding Camp, a day long field trip for middle school students to the University where they are exposed to computer coding, technology, and higher education through games, workshops, and team building exercises. Association members, University faculty and Alumni volunteer their time with support of the Association and our sponsors.
Women in IT
Each year the Association holds an event dedicated to Women in technology. Speakers present on a variety of topics including women in tech startups, venture capital, management, and higher education.
Career and Professional Development Workshop
Each semester we hold an event open to all students where they can come for interview practice, a resume critique, and a complimentary professional portrait.
We are always looking to arrange tours of local technology businesses for our membership. These events typically include a walking tour, an on-site presentation about their product or service, and available employment or internship opportunities.
Detroit Economic Club
Members are eligible to attend Detroit Economic Club meetings at no cost. Not only do these meetings include lunch and a presentation by a distinguished speaker, they provide ample opportunity to network with others in the Detroit business community. Even though we travel as a group, we take advantage of assigned seating to ensure that our members are spread across an array of tables.
Tech Startup Night
Hear from local tech startup founders and venture capital experts at a night dedicated to local startups. Learn how these companies got started and the journey they are taking to reach the next level.
Information Security Night
Learn how businesses are tackling information security across their organizations. What makes information security unique? What is the role of management and technology in a secure organization? What will be the next information security challenge? Learn how information security is shaping business and explore a career in information security.
Welcome Week Activities
At the beginning of each semester we staff information tables and provide refreshments to students interested in learning more about the Association. Occasionally a table will be sponsored by a local technology company looking to educate and recruit students for employment.
As an award winning student organization, Association members compete annually at the Association for Information Systems Student Chapters Leadership Conference. Competition categories include data analytics, innovation, video, and information technology security.
Student Organization Collaboration
The Association collaborates with other student organizations across campus to provide unique experiences to our membership. These events vary in kind and scope and are announced through our email newsletter.
